Nielsen Foundation Awards 2025 Data for Good Grants to Six Organizations Advancing Media, Technology, and Social Impact

NORTHAMPTON, MA – 28/12/2025 – (SeaPRwire) – As data, media, and emerging technologies increasingly shape public understanding and social outcomes, the Nielsen Foundation has announced its 2025 recipients for the annual Data for Good grants program. This year, six nonprofit organizations were selected for projects that apply data-driven approaches to some of society’s most pressing challenges, including mental health, climate change, access to justice, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Now in its eighth year, the Data for Good program supports innovative nonprofit initiatives that use data to inform narratives, influence decision-making, and create long-term impact. Since its launch in 2017, the program has funded projects designed to bridge social divides and strengthen communities by harnessing the power of media and technology.

According to Andrea Bertels, President and Executive Director of the Nielsen Foundation, the program reflects a belief that data and media can serve as catalysts for positive change when applied thoughtfully. She noted that the selected organizations demonstrate creative and practical ways to raise awareness, drive progress, and generate meaningful outcomes across diverse social issues.

The 2025 grant recipients represent a wide range of missions and approaches:

  • Civic Nation will receive support for We The Action, an initiative expanding access to justice by connecting communities with free legal services. The network’s 55,000 volunteer lawyers have already contributed more than 400,000 pro bono hours, supporting nearly 800 nonprofit partners nationwide.
  • Climate Central will advance research that helps local U.S. broadcasters improve coverage of extreme weather and climate change, strengthening public understanding of climate science, impacts, and solutions.
  • Harmony Labs will use the grant to conduct media research and audience segmentation to support creator-led climate communication, furthering its work on understanding and reshaping society’s relationship with media.
  • The Jed Foundation will focus on research and insights related to how teens use artificial intelligence for mental health support, contributing to its broader mission of protecting emotional well-being and preventing suicide among young people.
  • Potential Energy Coalition will develop and test more effective climate narratives designed to inform public education campaigns and increase demand for climate solutions.
  • TechSoup will design and launch a nonprofit data literacy mentorship program, helping organizations transform data into actionable insights, improve storytelling, and strengthen community impact.

Together, these initiatives underscore the Nielsen Foundation’s ongoing commitment to advancing inclusive innovation through data, research, and responsible technology use.
